What’s new on Skoda’s Geneva Motor Show stand?Skoda launched its second-generation Superb, aimed at the mid-sized, middle class Mondeo market. It’s a handsome car, with more than a little 1990s BMW 5-Series in it – from the way the bonnet meets the headlight glass, to the famous ‘Hofmeister Kink’ in the C pillar. Mini has today officially launched its WRC campaign in the UK, at the company’s Cowley base on the outskirts of Oxford. That’s despite the fact that the car debuts part-way through the 2011 season, contesting just six rallies.

Maybe, now more and more car makers and suppliers are starting to lose interest in BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), we can look properly to future prospects for an energy source for powering the world’s cars? And none, short of cold fusion becoming a reality, offers more promise than Hydrogen, the most plentiful element in the universe.
